Copy of complaint sent to Ikea Malaga: To whom it may concern;
It is only after telling my friends about what happened today that everyone said "complain" so I am! I am afraid that I will never be returning to your store due to my near fatal experience today! I wanted to purchase a "Sultan Tuvebo" that my girlfriend had seen in your catalogue for €129.
I arrived at your store at maybe 13.45 03/03/2008
I was with two friends who are opening a tatoo parlour and needed to buy some mirrors so knowing that my girlfriend wanted the item above I come along for the ride.
I entered the store picked up a brochure and found the item that was wanted and asked the lady that was using the computer directly in front of the escalator, this lady told me that the item I was after was located on the ground floor, I went down to the ground floor and after walking around for 10 minutes was told that the item wanted was in fact on the 1st floor! (I walked back)
I went back up stairs and upon seeing the lady still at the computer I popped over and pointed out that the item wanted was in fact on the 1st floor not the ground floor without any apology she simply agreed with me and looked back at her screen! (She should be sacked immediately as she is useless and obviously does not care)
I eventually found the item I was after and having seen that the price for the size that we would need was €279 and not €129 I decided against this purchase, It was at this point probably due to all the walking around up & down stairs and being near pillows, duvets etc etc that triggered a Asthma attack I immediately looked in my bag and realised that I had left my inhaler in the car, my immediate thought was to get to the car ASAP.
I walked back towards the exit and saw a lift that was being guarded by a lady with a walkie talkie I told her that I wanted to leave and she told me to go back the way I had come, I explained to her that I really needed to get outside because I was having difficulty breathing, she still insisted that I go back and walk the whole route I then explained by using hand gestures that I was Asthmatic and that I needed my inhaler, she got on the radio and nobody answered , she shouted over the balcony in Spanish then pointed to the lift, I walked in the doors closed but nothing happened, I am pushing buttons but nothing!
Now I am starting to have a major panick attack, I am sweating I cannot breath, when the doors opened again and the lady with the walki talkie said "moment momento" by now I can hardly breath and am seriously panicking, the doors closed and the lift eventually opened on the ground floor, I can see the exit I know the car is not far, I can do this.
The stupid stupid pathetic security "idiot" at the door stopped me and grabbed the magazine that I had written all the prices down in so I could show my girlfriend, I was having none of it and pulled it back and walked out.
Why stop me when her colleague had shouted over let this guy out! Are you running a prison or a store?
As soon as I got outside I felt a sudden sense of freedom and I actually managed to breath slightly better, my friends who had stopped to buy hotdogs met me back at the car I got my inhaler and luckily at 21.42 I am safely writing you this e-mail.
I am disgusted by the ignorant and almost criminal behaviour of your stupid security staff, if a customer wants to leave your store why should they be stopped? and most importantly if someone tells a member of your staff that they cannot breath should they not act accordingly?
I think you need to review this ASAP.
The whole experience left me dazed, shaken and very upset, I used to visit your store in Wembley. Middx when I lived in Harrow and NEVER had any problems of any kind and actually enjoyed our visits NOT IN MALAGA! you need to teach your ignorant Security staff that they are also there to help customers not hinder.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this matter.
Not a happy customer! who could be sat in Hospital now and not behind my desk!

Complaint Ikea Malaga
Hi, Just found this page and wanted to let any mothers know that I recently visited the store with my two year old and despite pleading with the Security staff to let me out of the front door they would not let me leave to get to my car. It was only when I spoke to a man at the top of the escalator that spoke english that the seciurity staff let me leave to get to my car to get my baby bag to change my daughter!
I think Ikea need to look at this problem.

Complaint Ikea store Malaga
The Ikea store opening in Malaga has resulted in many different furniture stores being closed along the coast, these are often small family businesses that are run by ex-pat families. I know of three furniture showrooms that have closed and resulted in one of the families having to relocate back to the UK.

Complaints Ikea in Malaga
Hola! I too found that the prices in the brochure are different to the prices when you get to the store! My favourite furniture store has also closed down due to lack of business since Ikea opened the store in Malaga. I am disabled and find access to most shops difficult, I must say that I found the staff at Ikea very helpfull and the lift up to 2nd floor made a huge difference.
I come across a very upset German insiting that he be allowed to leave as he had forgotten his wallet in his car! He was told that he must go forward! I suppose that this is a policy to ensure that every customer gets to see the stock? I think it is such a shame that Ikea, Mc Donalds, Burger King etc have all been allowed to set up shop on the Costa del Sol.
The Costa del Sol has changed so much since I moved here 20 years ago and slowly the traditional restaurants and businesses are being forced out of business by the big boys of the corporate world!
Oh well thats my view!
