Thousands of residents have once again been deprived of their television viewing, after the Spanish authorities carried out a high profile investigation into the activities of their television provider.
Police Close Down Telemicro
"The legislation would only affect those receiving re-broadcasted signals through mesh dishes, as satellite dishes receive a direct, legitimate signal from Sky or alternative broadcasting networks.
One lady from Torrevieja said;
"We will be investing in a SKY Box and getting our own independent dish so that this does not happen again as our Bar is loosing money"
The police investigation into the broadcasting rights of local digital television provider, Telmicro Levante S.L came to a head this week, with a series of raids on its offices.
The company was established around two years ago, when Ángel, the owner of ASYT (which operated under the name Telmicro Levante S.L.) went into partnership with Amiel of Cina Electronica S.L. It has been in the spotlight on several occasions during recent months, motivated by the Ministry of Telecommunications (CMT) introduction of new legislation preventing them and other British television providers from re-broadcasting Sky and other subscription channels.
We spoke to Sarah at www.mrskytv.com who said "We have seen a 200% increase in people wanting SKY TV this week, the phone has not stopped" She went on to say that "Due to the unexpected surge in SKY work there is now a shortage of equipment" Other sources are confirming that prices may rise as both ex-pats and Landlords that have promised tenants and Holiday makers that there rental properties have British TV scramble to get SKY TV installed.
One installer said "I have got 45 jobs booked in so I cannot do anymore work for at least six weeks"
The company temporarily withdrew selected channels from its broadcasting network in May, stating that it would be “breaking the law” if it did not observe the new restrictions.
It was believed that the legislation would only affect those receiving re-broadcasted signals through mesh dishes, as satellite dishes receive a direct, legitimate signal from Sky or alternative broadcasting networks.
Ian Moran of Fortunasat said "We heard a rumour that the re-broadcasters where coming under pressure, we have had several customers call us up asking
"Will this affect our SKY SYSTEM?" the answer is "NO" he went on to say
"this will not affect any people that have there own SKY Dish and SKY box and card"
Telemicro SHUT DOWN and 1000's without British TV in Spain.
"SKY TV NOT AFFECTED IF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN DISH BOX & CARD"

Latest Telmicro Statement Tues 2nd September
Telmicro Levante S.L. has been through three very turbulent and testing weeks since they were forced to cease transmission. The reason for this situation was due to the company transmitting certain channels for the benefit of its clients. During this week, Telmicro Levante will be starting to broadcast a service again. They have already started and clients on the Los Montesinos transmitter have been receiving some channels since last Saturday and it is Telmicro Levante's intention to be broadcasting to as many of their clients as possible by the end of this week.
There will be certain channels missing from the company's package, however they have been given full permission to restart broadcasting. To begin with, it will be a restricted service comprising of channels that the company has been contracted to re-transmit. These channels are the ones Telmicro's clients have got to know very well over the last year; such as the MGM, Cinestar and Xtrm film channels, the Sci-fi channel, Calle 13, Fox, National Geographic, etc. In edition, Telmicro will be showing some of the Spanish terrestrial programs. The company is now working hard to contract even more channels that will appeal to their client base and hope to bring them a wide and varied choice of channels to suit the whole family.
